    Abstract
A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of BAP (6-Benzylaminopurin) on morpho-physiological, yield and yield characters of three aromatic rice varieties cv. Chinigura, Kataribhog and Kalijira. The BAP was applied 0, 30, 60 and 90 ppm at vegetative and pre-flowering stages. Results showed that the morpho-physiological, yield and yield attributes were significantly different among the varieties studied under the application of different levels of BAP. There was a significant relationship among the varieties and different levels of BAP on vegetative stage on plant height. Among the varieties Kalijira and among the levels of BAP 90 ppm (L4) BAP showed the better performance. Levels of BAP on different aromatic rice variety had also positive effect on chlorophyll-a, and chlorophyll-b, total chlorophyll content, proline content of aromatic rice flag leaf. The maximum amount of chlorophyll-a was 15.47mg at Chinigura in 90 ppm and the lowest amount of chlorophyll a showed by the treatment at Kalijira on control (10.22 mg). The highest amount of total chlorophyll content was at Chinigura on 90 ppm (19.95 mg) while the lowest amount of total chlorophyll content was at Kalijira on control (13.03 mg). The highest prolien content was found at Kataribhog 60 ppm (0.37 mg) while the lowest proline content was at Chinigura on Control (0.23 mg). Some yield contributing characters of aromatic rice such as grain grain weight per panicle and total grain yield were influenced due to the interaction effect of variety and levels of BAP. The highest yield was Kalijira rice variety 4.10 ton/ha at 90 ppm BAP. Plant growth regulators promote the growth and yield of aromatic rice varieties which might be alternative eco-friendly materials for rice production. Out of the three rice varieties Kalijira performed better considering growth and yield parameters. The spraying with 90 ppm BAP had the better stimulation on growth on yield of Kalijira.
