dc.description | Mungbean (Vigna radiata L.Wilczek) under the family Leguminosae and subfamily Papilionaceae is an important pulse crop of Bangladesh. It is a rich source
of protein. It is mainly a day neutral warm season crop commonly grown in
semiarid to subhumid tropics and subtropics. It is cultivated most extensively in
India, Myanmer, Thailand, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan, Vietnam, China, Japan,
Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Srilanka and Islands in the south pacific (FAO,
2003). | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The experiment was conducted at the research field of Crop Physiology and
Ecology Department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology
University, Dinajpur, during the period of mid- April to mid- July, 2012 to evaluate
the effect of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers on the performance of
mungbean. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design
(RCBD) with three replications. The experimental plots were first divided into
three blocks each representing a replication. Each block then divided into six-unit
plots of 3m x 2m sizes. The distance between block to block was 0.5m and plot to
plot was 0.75m. The experiment comprised of two sets of factors such as two
varietirs; V; = BINA Mug- 5 and V2 = BARI Mug- 6 and four fertilizer treatments:
To = control, T; = Recommended dose of fertilizer, T, = 10 ton cowdung manure
ha”! + inorganic fertilizer and T; = 5 ton ha” poultry manure + inorganic fertilizer.
Significant variation in plant height at 35 DAS, 42 DAS, 49 DAS, 56 DAS, 63
DAS, 70 DAS and 77 DAS were found among the varieties. The highest number of
pod plant” (25.33) was found in BINA Mug- 5 and the lowest number of pod plant
' (11.67) was recorded in BARI Mug- 6 variety. Among all fertilizer treatments
the maximum yield of mungbean (1365 kg ha') was recorded in T; and the
minimum (1255 kg ha") was in the Tp treatment of BINA Mug- 5. Maximum
yield of mungbean (1310 kg ha") was recorded in T; and the minimum (1210
kg ha’') was in the To treatment of BARI Mug- 6. Finally, it might be
concluded that the application of organic manures with chemical fertilizers
is the best way for further mungbean production in economic point of view.
But the degree of benefits obtained from different organic manures were as
cow dung manure>poultry manure. | en_US |
