dc.description | Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the vital food for 2.4 billion people in Asia, nearly 90% of the
world's rice is produced and consumed in this region and more than four hundred millions
of people in Africa and Latin America (IRRI, 2011). The people in Bangladesh depends on
rice as staple food and have tremendous influence on agrarian economy of Bangladesh.
Rice alone constitute 97% of the food grain production in Bangladesh (BBS, 2013).
Among different groups of rice, transplant Aman (T. Aman) rice cover about 49.11% of
total rice area and it contributes to 38.11% of the total rice production in the country (BBS,
2013). In Bangladesh, rice dominates over all other crops and covers 75% of the total
cropped area (Rekabdar, 2004) of which around 27% is occupied by fine rice varieties

dc.description.abstract | A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of NAA (Napthalene Acetic Acid),
GA3 (Gibberellic acid), and DPA (Diphenylamine) on morpho-physiological, yield and
yield characters of aromatic rice cv. Chinigura. The NAA, GA3 and DPA were applied 0,
30, 60 and 90 ppm at vegetative and pre-flowering stages. Results showed that the
morpho-physiological, yield and yield attributes were significantly different among the
PGRs studied under the application of their levels. There was a significant relationship
among the PGRs and their levels on vegetative stage on plant height. The highest amount
of total chlorophyll content (19.39 mg) was GA3 90ppm treatments while the lowest
amount of total chlorophyll content (11.59 mg) was NAA on Control treatments. The
highest proline content was found GA3 on 90ppm (0.37 mg) while the lowest proline
content was found DPA on Control (0.24mg). The highest yield was in Chinigura rice
variety (3.76 t ha-1
) at 60 ppm GA3 application. Plant growth regulators promote the
growth and yield of aromatic rice which might be an alternative eco-friendly tool for rice
production. Out of the three PGRs, GA3 on Chinigura performed better considering
growth and yield parameters. The spraying with 60 ppm GA3 had the better stimulation on
growth and yield of Chinigura rice variety. | en_US |
