Abstract
A field experiment was carried out during the period from November 2009 to
February 2010, in the Agro Service Center, BADC farm, Chehelgazi, Dinajpur to
study the effects of different levels of potassium and irrigation on the yield and
tuber size of potato (cv. Diamant). The treatments of the experiment comprised of
twelve combinations of four levels of potassium viz. 0, 150, 250 and 350 kg K,O
per hectare and three levels of irrigation (I, = 15 cm, I, = 30 cm and I; = 45 cm).
The largest tuber grade D (>45 mm diameter) obtained with application of
potassium (350 kg KO per hectare). It was revealed that the variety was superior
when potassium applied (350 kg K,O per hectare) than control treatment (0 kg
KO per hectare). Regarding main effect of potassium and irrigation, significant
influence was observed on all the growth and yield contributing characteristics
except days required for 80% emergence of plant. The highest yield of potato per
plot (13.83 kg) was obtained from the application of 250 kg K,O per hectare with
irrigation level I;. The control treatments for the different levels of potassium and
irrigation gave poor result in all respects.
