dc.descriptionMigration occurs when people leave their own country to live in another. They mainly want to change the fate of their own and also their relatives. Migration in the form of remittance not only improve the financial condition of their family but also the economic trend of a country. International migrants send their earnings through various media. Over past few years, remittance contributes a major source of external financial source; monetary remittance plays an important role to eradicate poverty and are crucial to the survival of poor people. Govt. has taken various initiatives to encourage the flow of remittance and to use it properly for the development of our country. Separate ministry has established to ensure the welfare of these expatriate workers and increase the overseas employment. Bangladesh Govt. has also set up different sister organization to facilitate this process includes Bureau of manpower, Employment & Training (BMET) Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) etc. Bangladesh is an agricultural country. Her economy largely depends on agricultural. The economy has undergone a tremendous change due to industrialization. Bangladesh has a huge labor surplus. Bangladesh has begun to export manpower since 1970. On an average, Bangladesh exports 140,000 people annually. Bureau of manpower, Employment, & Training has classified these migrant people in four categories namely professional, skilled, semi-skilled & unskilled. Doctors, teachers, engineers, nurses are considered as professionals; manufacturing & garments workers are treated as skilled; while tailor, mason etc. are semi-skilled workers; housemaid, dancers, laborers are classified as unskilled.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe importance of foreign remittances in the economy of Bangladesh is widely recognized and requires little reiteration. Along with the readymade garment (RMG) sector and non-farm activities in the agricultural sector, remittances have been identified as one of the three key factors that have been responsible for reducing the overall incidence of poverty in Bangladesh. Remittances are goldmine for any country, where Bangladesh besets with various problem, it is like a blessing for us. An introduction will be given to know the actual situation regarding remittances. A conceptual view of remittances, its types, channels through which it enters into Bangladesh, how international migration and remittances are connected, problem associated with remittances will be described. Impact of remittances on economic development including both microeconomic and macroeconomic determinants of Bangladesh along with South Asian countries. The inflows of remittances in Bangladesh from 1975-2011, from where it comes i.e. what is the destination of migrant workers and how remittances are used by their family members. Beyond economy its impact on politics and social Sphere of Bangladesh and positive and negative aspects are described. What types of threats came during global recession and how to cope with it in next future are subject of concern. There is no chance to avoid this topic whether the outflow of remittances deteriorate the host country’s economy. A brief discussion about this issue will be highlighted. Conclusion and some significant recommendations to raise the amount of remittances will be stated in the last chapter.en_US
