dc.description | Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench] is a popular summer vegetable in Bangladesh
belongs to the family Malvaceae and locally known as “Dherosh” or “Bhindi”. It plays an
important role in vegetable market during summer season when the supply of vegetable is
acute. It is an annual vegetable crop in tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world (T: ahkur
and Arora, 1986). It is well distributed throughout the Indian sub-continent and East Asia
(Rashid, 1990). Its tender green fruits are popular as vegetable among all classes of people in
Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world. Though it is popular, its production is mainly
concentrated during the summer. However, now a day’s okra is found in the market almost
round the year. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The study was conducted in the experimental field of Department of Entomology, Hajee
Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during the period from
February to June, 2016 to evaluate the effect of some commercially produced botanicals
along with a chemical insecticide and an untreated control applied against okra shoot and
fruit borer (Earias vittella Fab.). The treatments were, T:= Bioneem Plus at the rate of 1 ml/L
of water, T2= Mahogony oil at the rate of Sml/L of water, T3= Ecomec 1.8EC at the rate of
lmIl/L of water, T= Ripcord 10EC at the rate of 1ml/L of water and Ts = Untreated control.
The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three
replications. | en_US |
