| dc.description | Salmonellosis is a disease condition caused by a wide variety of salmonellae
servers in various hosts including duck, pigeon which remain serious
problem with public health significance throughout the world (Tabaraie et.
bs,1994). Substantial economic loss results from mortality and poor growth
of infected animal, birds and human beings as well as the hazards of
transmitting food poisoning with gastroenteritis to human and represents a
serious problem for the food industry (cooke, 1990 and Todd, 1990). The
Duck and pigeon population of Bangladesh is suffering from various
diseases and disease conditions e.g salmonellosis, duck viral hepatitis, duck
plague, pigeon pox. From reports of the field cases it is assumed that
salmonellosis is one of the important diseases among them. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Salmonellosis is a common problem in poultry farms of our country.
Indiscriminate use of antibiotic to control the disease results drug resistance
and limits. the therapeutic possibilities in the treatment of the disease. A total
of 90 samples were collected from liver, spleen and intestine of Duck,
Pigeon; either dead or sick, brought for antibiogram study following
isolation of Salmonellae from those birds during the period from January
2013. to June, 2013. from three upazilla of Dinajpur District of Bangladesh.
The collected samples were inoculated to different cultural media (NA, MC
agar, EMB agar, SS agar, BGA) for the determination of cultural
