CHARACTERIZATION OF SALMONELLA ISOLATED FROM DUCK AND PIGEON WITH THEIR ANTIBIOGRAM

Abstract
Salmonellosis is a common problem in poultry farms of our country.
Indiscriminate use of antibiotic to control the disease results drug resistance
and limits. the therapeutic possibilities in the treatment of the disease. A total
of 90 samples were collected from liver, spleen and intestine of Duck,
Pigeon; either dead or sick, brought for antibiogram study following
isolation of Salmonellae from those birds during the period from January
2013. to June, 2013. from three upazilla of Dinajpur District of Bangladesh.
The collected samples were inoculated to different cultural media (NA, MC
agar, EMB agar, SS agar, BGA) for the determination of cultural
characteristics of the organism.
