    Abstract
An experiment was conducted on biologically active substances in aqueous extracts of leaves of some herbal plants viz.,bael (T,), amla(T2), belericmyrobalan(T3),arjuna (T4), neem (Ts), horitoki (Tg) and water (Tc) for each vegetable crop such as, turnip(V), spinach(V>) and ladies finger(V3) with the attempt to study the effective plant extract. The highest germination(84%) of turnip was found in seeds treated with aqueous extract of arjuna(T,)and the lowest germination(66%) of Turnip was recorded in seeds treated with the extracts of neem(T;).At the final date of seed germination of turnip i.e. after 45days of seed sowing the highest germination (98%) of turnip was found in seeds treated with aqueous extract of arjuna (T4).At 15DAS highest shoot length(4.90 cm)was observed in the treatment T;(neem extract). While, the shortest (3.90cm) was recorded in T¢ (horitoki) treatment. At 15 DAS highest root length (3.94 cm) was observed in the treatment T; (neem).Highest (1.15) content of chl.a was observed in the treatment T, (amla). While, the lowest (0.60) was recorded in T3(belericmyrobalan) treatment. The highest (0.75) chl.b was observed in the treatment applied with wood apple leaf extract (T,) and the lowest chl.b (0.14) was recorded in the treatmentT, with application of amla leaf extract. Maximum carotenoid (4.86) content was observed in the treatment T; applying bael leaf extract. At 30 DAS the highest germination(97%) of spinach was found in seeds treated with aqueous extract of belericmyrobalan (T3).At 30 DAS highest shoot length (6.56cm) was observed in the treatment T3(belericmyrobalan) While, the shortest (5.44cm) was recorded in T, (water) treatment. At 30 DAS highest root length (5.70 cm) was observed in the treatment T3(bohera). While, the shortest (4.56cm) was recorded in T, (bael) but similar to all. The highest (0.17) chl.b was observed in the treatment applied with beal leaf extract (T,). The lowest chl.b (0.12) was recorded in the treatment T, with application of water. Whereas, maximum carotenoid (2.58) content was observed in the treatment T, applying beal leaf extract. While, the minimum carotenoid (1.87) content was observed in the treatment T, (horitoki). The highest germination (83%) of ladies finger was found in seeds treated with aqueous extract of arjuna (T,).Conversely, the lowest germination (59%) of ladies finger was recorded in seeds treated with the application of bel (T;).At 14DAS highest shoot length (12.17cm) was observed in the treatment T,(arjuna) .
