    Abstract
The present study was investigated to study the morphophysiological traits and yield performance of mungbean. The experiment was conducted in research field of the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during the summer season from February to June 2011. Four mungbean varieties viz. BARI Mung-2, BARI Mung-3, BARI Mung-4, and BARI Mung-5 were used as study materials. One mixed biofertilizer, one growth hormone (Indole Acetic Acid) and a control treatments were used to find out the effect of biofertilizer and Indole Acetic Acid on morphophysiological features and yield and yield contributing characteristics of mungbean varieties. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Experiment showed that most of the morphophysiological characters, such as plant height, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, leaf dry weight, total dry matter, number of nodule plant” ,leaf area were increased significantly due to application of biofertilizer. The above parameters were the maximum when the mungbean varieties were treated with biofertilizer followed by Indole Acetic Acid. Yield and yield contributing characters such as number of flowers plant”, number of pods plant”, pod length (cm), pod dry weight (g plant”), number of seeds pod', 100 seed weight, seed yield (g plant”), seed yield (kg ha’'), harvest index(%) were increased significantly by the application of biofertilizer and Indole Acetic Acid over the control. But abscission (%) was decreased significantly due to application of biofertilizer. BARI Mung-5 performed better than BARI Mung-2, BARI Mung-3, and BARI Mung-4 in respect of plant height, root dry weight, leaf dry weight, total dry matter, leaf area, pods plant’, pod length (cm), pod dry weight (g plant’), number of seeds pod’, 100 seed weight, seed yield (g plant”), seed yield (kg ha’). BARI Mung-4 had higher shoot dry weight than BARI Mung-5, BARI Mung-2 and BARI Mung-3 in case of biofertilized condition. The variety BARI Mung-5 and BARI Mung-4 had higher harvest index (%) than BARI Mung-2 and BARI Mung-3. The maximum seed yield was found in BARI Mung-5 with biofertilizer inoculation and minimum seed yield was found in BARI Mung-2 in control.
