Rice (Oryza sativa L.) being one of the richest starchy foods is consumed by about half of the world’s population. It is the most important major cereal crop in Bangladesh. It is the largest crop in terms of area and production in Bangladesh. Although the rice in Bangladesh is consuming large scale but the production is still far behind the other rice producing countries. The average yield in Bangladesh is very low (3.88 t ha’) (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, 2013-2014) as compared to Egypt (8.4 t ha’) and USA (6.6 t ha’). All over the world, the importance of agriculture, especially rice production, is increasing. To cope with the rising population, rice production needs to increase following vertical, instead of horizontal expansion.en_US
An experiment was conducted at the research field of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during Boro season of 2013-2014 with a view to examining the effect of foliar fertilization and nitrogen levels on performance of BRRIdhan 28 and reduce soil application of nitrogenous fertilizer. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. Two levels of foliar fertilization- no foliar fertilization (Fy) and foliar fertilization with magic growth (F;) were placed in the main plots as main plot treatments whereas four nitrogen fertilizer levels (0, 50, 75 and 100% of the recommended nitrogen fertilizer) were placed randomly in the sub plots as sub plot treatments.en_US
