    Abstract
An experiment was conducted on naturally occurring growth substances in aqueous extracts of ten common herbal plant leaves viz., Control (T,), aqueous extracts of Neem (T)), Haritaki (T2), Bohera (T3), Arjune (T,4), Bel (T;), Amloki (T¢), for each weed seed such as barnyard grass and spiny amaranth with the attempt for chemical investigation on effective leave extract. The aqueous extracts of bohera and neem significantly increased germination of Barnyard grass and Spiny amaranth seeds compared with control. The lowest germination percentages of barnyard grass and spiny amaranth, seeds were 6.39% and 7.80% in seeds treated with extract of amloki (Phyllanthus emblica L.) were obtained. This growth regulatory activity might be due to the presence of growth regulatory compound or other interesting bioactive compounds in the mentioned extract comparison with others. The minimum shoot length of barnyard grass and spiny amaranth seeds were 3.82 cm and 0.56 cm in seeds treated with the same extract. Similarly, the root lengths of these weed seeds were the root lengths of these weed seeds were also decreased as 0.76 cm and 0.27cm when treated with the same aqueous extracts.
