EVALUATION OF HEMATOLOGICAL PROFILE IN EARLY PREGNANT COW
Collections
Abstract
The present study was conducted to evaluate the changes in hematological biomarkers
in early pregnant cows. Fifteen multiparous cows were divided into three groups -
Group1= 0 day; Group 2= 11th day and Group 3= 21st day after Artificial Insemination
(AI). Blood samples were collected from all the pregnant cows at 0 day, 11th day and
21st day after AI and assayed for hematological biomarkers. The outcome showed that
the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (mm/1st hr), Neutrophil (%), Eosinophils (%) and
Mean Corpuscular Volume (fl) were significantly increased at 21st day after AI. The
Lymphocytes (%) and Mean Platelet Volume (fl) were particularly increased at 11th day
and Monocytes (%) increased at 0 day just after AI. In contrast, Hemoglobin (g/dl),
Total WBC count (/cmm), Procalcitonin test (%) were significantly decreased at 21st
day as compared with 0 and 11th days. Packed cell volume (%) decreased significantly
at 11th day after AI. Some blood parameters change in relation to pregnancy.
