    Abstract
This study has determined the impact of hyperglycemia on development of corpus luteum as well as blood progesterone level in alloxan induced diabetic rabbit. The objective of this study was to know the number and size of Corpus Luteus, the gross and microscopic lesion of ovary, serum progesterone levels in hyperglycemic rabbit. There were two experimental groups: one was control group (n = 10), and another treatment group (n = 10). Alloxan at 75 mg/kg body weight was injected intraperitoneally to induced for the development hyperglycemic state of treatment group. Blood glucose level was more or less same in the control and treatment groups just before the start of treatment. Blood glucose level were 9.00±0.71mg/dl and 5.70±0.4mg/dl control and treatment group at the 7th day of induction respectively. Blood glucose levels were 5.47±0.20 mg/dl, 10.47±0.35 mg/dl and 6.63±0.30 mg/dl, 10.67±0.73 mg/dl at the 14th and 21th days in control and treatment groups respectively. The control group showed a significant (P<0.05) rise in the quantity of corpus luteum (CL) on different days. However, the CL numbers in the treatment group declined on a regular basis. Gross and histological abnormalities were discovered in the corpus luteum of the treatment group; these were small-sized corpus luteum and reduced the amount of CL production. High blood glucose levels may have an adverse impact on CL formation and progesterone production. These studies provided excellent massage for public health.
