dc.description‘The problems of salinity in the irrigated agriculture of the tropics and subtropics are increasing Fe an increasing rate. Since the intensity of salinity problem is associated with temperature and water stress, the problem might be more serious with the global climate change (Maas and Hoffman, 1977; Abdulrahman and Williams, 1981).) There might be a shift in cnopnie pattern in the tropics due to increase in saline area. (Most of the high yielding salt sensitive crops might become unsuitable for cultivation in the existing cropping pattern. Serious attempt should therefore be undertaken to search for tolerant crops or.variety of a crop to keep agriculture in the salt affected area economically viable)en_US
