    ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF BACTERIAL PATHOGENS FROM EGG SHELL, EGG YOLK, FEED AND AIR SAMPLES OF POULTRY HOUSES

    Abstract
    The aim of the present study was to determine the bacterial load present in the samples of egg yolk, egg shell, feed and air samples of poultry houses of the selected farms and as well as to isolate, identify and characterize bacteria present in those samples. For this study the samples were collected from Matasagar poultry Farm (Sadar,Dinajpur), Raja-Badsha Poultry Farm (Setabgonj Thana, Dinajpur) and Masud Poultry Farm (Rajbari, Sadar, Dinajpur) during the period from January to May, 2012. A total of 147 samples were collected from the egg yolk, egg shell, feed and air of the selected poultry farms. The collected samples were then inoculated into different cultural media for determination of cultural characteristics of the organism. The isolated organism also subjected to CHO fermentation test, MR-VP test, MIU test and indole test. On the basis of their cultural and biochemical characters the isolated organisms were characterized as E. coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Bacillus spp. In this study, the prevalence of as E. coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Bacillus spp were 13.6%, 8.16%, 8.84% and 4.08% in different samples (egg yolk, egg shell, feed and air) of poultry houses. Further study required to determine the pathogenicity of these bacteria.
