    Abstract
A field experiment was carried out at the research field of the Department of Agronomy, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur-5200 during the period from November 2022 to March 2023 to evaluate the effect of mannitol and gibberellic acid on yield and yield attributing characteristics of mustard. The experiment comprised of two factors namely, Factor A: Different doses of mannitol viz. M1 = 0 ppm (control), M2 = 50 ppm, M3 = 100 ppm, and M4 = 150 ppm and Factor B: Three levels of gibberellic acid viz. G1 = 0 ppm (control), G2 =50 ppm and G3 = 100 ppm. It consisted of twelve different treatment combinations. The experiment was laid out by randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The maximum growth parameters of mustard were found statistically significant. Considering the application of different doses of mannitol the maximum siliqua plant-1 (57.24), seeds siliqua-1 (34.22), 1000-seed weight (3.39 g), seed yield (1.45 t ha-1), stover yield (2.86 t ha-1), biological yield (4.31 t ha-1) and harvest index (33.74 %) were observed in M4 (150 ppm) whereas the minimum number of siliqua plant-1 (41.97), seeds siliqua-1 (28.53), 1000-seed weight (2.93 g), seed yield (1.04 t ha-1), stover yield (2.53 t ha-1), biological yield (3.58 t ha-1) and harvest index (29.20 ℅) were observed in M1 (0 ppm that is control). In case of different doses of GA3 the maximum siliqua plant-1 (52.63), seeds siliqua-1 (32.91), 1000 seed weight (3.37 g), seed yield (1.32 t ha-1), stover yield (2.76 t ha-1), biological yield (4.09 t ha-1) and harvest index (32.33 %) were recorded in G3 (100 ppm) treatment while the minimum number of siliqua plant-1 (48.25), seeds siliqua-1 (29.93), 1000-seed weight (3.13 g), seed yield (1.16 t ha-1), stover yield (2.64 t ha-1), biological yield (3.81 t ha-1) and harvest index (30.51 %) were observed in G1 (control). In case of interaction effect of mannitol and gibberellic acid the maximum number of siliqua plant-1 (58.06), seeds siliqua-1 (35.33), 1000-seed weight (3.51 g), seed yield (1.53 t ha-1), stover yield (2.90 t ha-1), biological yield (4.43 t ha-1) and harvest index (34.57 %) were recorded in M4G3 treatment combination. The minimum number of siliqua plant-1 (38.33), seeds siliqua-1 (27.13), 1000-seed weight (2.76 g), seed yield (0.96 t ha-1), stover yield (2.38 t ha-1), biological yield (3.35 t ha-1) and harvest index (28.74 %) were observed in M1G1 treatment combination respectively. So, it may be suggested that Mannitol (150 ppm) combined with Gibberellic acid (100 ppm) showed better results for the growth and yield of mustard.
