GROWTH AND YIELD RESPONSE OF WHEAT AS INFLUENCED BY IRRIGATION INTERVAL AND POTASSIUM APPLICATION METHOD; A THESIS BY HAFSHA BARI, Student No. 1701236, Semester: January-June 2024; MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CROP PHYSIOLOGY AND ECOLOGY, DEPARTMENT OF CROP PHYSIOLOGY AND ECOLOGY, HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR-5200, BANGLADESH; JUNE 2024.en_US
An experiment was carried out in the research field and laboratory of the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the period of December 2022 to March 2023 with a view to evaluate the effect of irrigation intervals and potassium application method and their combined effect in growth and yield response of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The experiment was laid out in a randomized split plot design having three replications. The treatments were Factor A- Irrigation-1. I1: Irrigation was given with 15 days intervals, 2. I2: Irrigation was given with 21 days intervals, 3. I3: Irrigation was given with 28 days intervals. Factor B: Potassium application method K1: Potassium application by side dressing. K2: Fertigation with irrigation water. The results showed that the irrigation had significant effect on plant height, leaf number, tiller number, TDM, CGR, LAI and SPAD values, length of spike, number of spikelet spike-1, number of grain spike-1, thousand grain weight, total grain yield, biological yield and harvesting index. For irrigation all the above parameters were highest in I1 (Irrigation was given with 15 days intervals) and the lowest in I3 (Irrigation was given with 28 days intervals). For potassium dose highest values were observed in K1 (Side dressing potassium application) and the lowest in K2 (Fertigation with irrigation water) in most of the cases. Most of the parameters were significantly influenced by the interaction effect of irrigation and potassium dose. The highest grain yield was found from I1K1 and the lowest grain yield was obtained in I3K2.en_US
