    Abstract
The experiment was conducted in the research field of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur from December 2023 to April 2024 to evaluate the effectiveness of various doses of chitosan as treatment to control leaf blight (Bipolaris sorokiniana). In this experiment, six treatments were studied, T1 =control, T2 =20 ppm chitosan, T3 = 40 ppm chitosan, T4 = 60 ppm chitosan, T5 = 80 ppm chitosan, T6= 100 ppm chitosan. Two varieties were used, V1 = BARI Gom-30 and V2= BARI Gom-33 within three replications and the experiment was set up as Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Bipolaris leaf blight severity, seed health (percent germination), plant height, spike length, thousands seed weight, biological yield, yield index and yield were significantly varied with different treatments. Minimum disease severity was recorded from T6 on flag leaves at 75 DAS (0.29%), 79 DAS (5.35%), 83 DAS (8.33%), 87 DAS (13.39%) also on flag-1 leaves at 75 DAS (2.08%), 79 DAS (4.76%), 83 DAS (10.41%) and 87 DAS (20.53%). Minimum disease severity was recorded in BARI Gom-33 on flag leaf at 75 DAS (0.59%), 79 DAS (5.67%), 83 DAS (9.90%), 87 DAS (14.07%) and also on flag-1 leaves at 75 DAS (3.07%), 79 DAS (13.98%), 83 DAS (17.65%) and 87 DAS (26.19%). As a treatment variety interaction, the lowest disease severity on flag leaf was recorded from BARI Gom-33 with T6 interaction at 75 DAS (0.0%), 79 DAS (3.50%), 83 DAS (7.73%) and 87 DAS (14.15). Also the lowest disease severity on flag-1 leaves was recorded from BARI Gom-33 with T1 (control) 75 DAS (1.35%), 79DAS (4.76%), 83 DAS (7.14%) and 87 DAS (17.26%). As a treatment, minimum seed number was affected with Bipolaris sorokiniana was recorded from chitosan 100 ppm (9.95%). As a variety, minimum seed number was affected with Bipolaris sorokiniana was recorded in BARI Gom-33 (10.16%). Treatment variety interaction of BARI Gom-33 with chitosan 100 ppm showed minimum (8.67%) seed number was infected with Bipolaris sorokiniana. Maximum grain yield (3.82 t ha-1) was found in BARI Gom-33. The highest grain yield (5.49 t ha-1) was obtained from the interaction of BARI Gom-33 with 100 ppm chitosan. Study concluded that using of BARI Gom-33 with the application of 100 ppm chitosan can be used four time effectively with the lowest leaf blight disease infestation with better yield.
