    Abstract
Invigoration approach of seed priming, aimed to regulate seed hydration such that all seeds germinated at the same time before sowing, resulting in rapid and synchronous germination. Three pot experiments were carried out at Agronomy department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur during February to June 2023 to find out the response of different priming methods on mungbean seed invigoration. Three Mungbean varieties (BARI Mung-6, BARI Mung-7 and BARI Mung-8) were used as planting materials and six different seed priming treatments (control, hydro priming, 60 mM NaCl, 120 mM NaCl, 100 ppm GA3 and 200 ppm GA3). Experiments were designed in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. BARI Mung-7 showed the better performance in terms of germination percentage, germination index, rate of germination, seedling vigor (I and II), shoot and root length, shoot fresh and dry weight. For determining seedling growth, most of the morphological and growth characters viz., shoot and root length, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root, chlorophyll content (Chl a and Chl b at 10 DAS, 20 DAS and 30 DAS) were found the better at 200 ppm GA3. The highest performance was recorded from 120 mM NaCl for enzymatic activity (POD, APX and CAT). Yield traits and yield (no. of pods plant-1, pod length, no. of seeds pod-1, 1000-seed weight, seed yield plant-1, stover yield plant-1, biological yield plant-1 and harvest index) performed superior at hydro priming condition. On the other hand, the lowest no. of pods plant-1 (6.33), pod length (5.03 cm), no. of seeds pod-1 (5.33), 1000-seed weight (30.81 g), seed yield plant 1 (3.46 g), stover yield plant-1(9.95 g), biological yield plant-1 (13.64 g) and harvest index (18.00 %) were obtained from 120 mM NaCl. This study found that a higher concentration of NaCl negatively affected the seedling growth and yield traits and it inhibited the growth and development of mungbean due to toxicity. BARI Mung-8 showed the highest seed yield plant-1 (7.49 g) at hydro priming condition than others. Therefore, BARI Mung-8 should be primed with water 12 hours for getting maximum yield.
