EFFECT OF FOLIAR APPLICATION OF GA3 ON THE GROWTH, YIELD AND YIELD ATTRIBUTES OF MUSTARD

Abstract
The experiment was conducted in Agronomy Research Field, Department of Agronomy, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur-5200, Bangladesh from December 2022 - March 2023 to assess the effect of foliar application of GA3 on the growth, yield, yield attributes of mustard. The experiment consisted of two factors where one factor was varieties namely V1 (BARI Sarisha-14), V2 (BARI Sarisha 16) and V3 (BARI Sarisha 18) and another four GA3 e.g., T1 (0 ppm GA3/L water), T2 (30 ppm GA3/L water), T3 (45 ppm GA3/L water) and T4 (60 ppm GA3/L water). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replication. The results plant height, number of branches plant-1, number of leaves plant-1, fresh weight plant-1, dry weight plant-1, fresh weight seed-1, dry weight seed-1 , 1000 seeds weight, grain yield, stover yield, biological yield, harvest index were influenced by GA3 . BARI Sarisha 16 was found to significantly superior than BARI Sarisha 14 and BARI Sarisha 18 in terms of 1000 seeds weight (2.79 g), seed yield (2.44 t ha-1), biological yield (4.18 t ha-1) and harvest index (60.45 %). T2 (30 ppm GA3/L water) showed best performance than the other GA3 combinations in most of the parameters specially in 1000 seeds weight (3.05 g), seed yield (2.21 t ha-1), biological yield (4.62 t ha-1) and harvest index (57.03 %). Interaction result showed that BARI Sarisha 16 along with T2 (30 ppm GA3/L water) possed the highest grain yield 2.68 t ha-1. Finally, it can be concluded that BARI Sarisha 16 may foliar spray with GA3 @ 30 ppm for getting better growth and maximum yield of mustard.
