EFFECT OF VERMICOMPOST WITH NPK ON THE GROWTH AND YEILD OF TOMATO; A THESIS BY SHAFIN AHMED SHAWON; Student No. 1701262, Session: January-June, 2024; MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.S.) dc.description.abstractThe experiment was conducted in Soil Science research field, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during the period of January 2024 to April 2024 in order to investigate the effects of different doses of chemical fertilizers and vermicompost on the growth and yield of tomato. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with six treatments and three replications. The treatments were . T₁ =Control, T₂=100% RDF, T3=50% VC + 50% RDF, T4=25% VC + 75% RDF,T5= 75% VC + 25% RDF and T6= 100% VC. Seedlings of tomato were transplanted on 22 January 2024. The results of this experiment have been summarized as follows. VC with NPK fertilization significantly increased the plant height. Plant height was increased gradually with the passing of time up to final harvest DAT in all doses of VC with chemical fertilizers. The maximum plant height (63.5cm) was recorded in plant grown with T2 and the minimum (39.25cm) was found at T₁. The maximum leaf number (17.3) was found at T2 and minimum number of leaves (7.95) was recorded at T₁. The maximum number of branches (9.5) was found in T2, and the minimum (3.25) was found in T6. The highest number of flower clusters per plant (14.2) was recorded from T2 and the lowest (4.45) was from T₁. The maximum number of fruits per plant (6.4) was obtained from T2. The minimum number of fruits per plant (2.05) was obtained from T₁. The highest weight of individual fruit (92.72 g) was observed from T2, while the lowest weight of individual fruit (59.65 g) was observed from T₁. The number of fruits Weight per plant passing of time up to final harvest DAT the maximum number of Weight of fruits per plant (625.7g) was obtained from T2. The minimum number of fruits per plant (173.75) was obtained from T1. The highest fruit length (5.58 cm) was recorded from T2 and the lowest fruit length (2.89 cm) was recorded from T₁. The highest fruit diameter (8.23cm) was recorded from T2 and the lowest fruit length (3.78cm) was recorded from T₁. The highest yield (65.67t ha-¹) was obtained from T2. On the other hand, the lowest yield (34.4 t ha-¹) was produced from T₁. Therefore, the overall result was found that application of 100% RDF performed the highest yield of tomato.en_US
