| dc.description.abstract | An experiment was carried out at the Horticulture lab of HSTU, during the period from 5
October to 28 October, 2022 to investigate on seed priming with hydrogen peroxide for
mitigating salt stress in garden pea. Garden pea primed with hydrogen peroxide solutions
with different level of concentrations (hydro primed, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5%) and with the
treatment of NaCl salt concentrations (0 mmol, 100mmol, 150mmol and 200 mmol). The
experiment was done in tray, the hole was 7cm × 3cm. The experiment was laid out in
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with different salinity level of NaCl and 3
replications. Primed seeds had significant effect on most of the parameters studied. The seeds
were pretreated with H2O2 (0.50%, 1.0% and1.5%) and soaked in distil water (hydro
priming) for 12hr. The study to evaluate the effect of seed priming with hydrogen peroxide
(H2O2) (0.50%, 1.0% and 1.5%) on seed germination and vigour of garden pea at different
salt concentrations (100, 150 and 200mM) revealed that seed priming with hydrogen
peroxide. It was recorded that maximum germination in 1.5% H2O2 and 100 mmol NaCl
concentration gave the highest shoot length (8.4cm), number of true leaves (8), the longest
seedling (11.50cm), diameter of the leaf (1.9×1.6cm) compared to hydroprimed and non
saline irrigation seeds in most of the parameters. Germination start within 3 days after
sowing. In 5th days, 90% germination was done. The shoot length was higher (6.9cm) in H4
and number of ture leaf was higher (3) in H4. Similarly diameter of shoot was (2.98mm) in
T2. The interaction effect of 1.5% H2O2 primed seed gave the highest germination, shoot
length, shoot diameter, leaf area, number of true leaves, number of roots and others parameter
also with irrigation of 100mmol NaCl salt concentration compare to unprimed and fresh
water irrigation. This treatment improved the germination performance under 100mmol NaCl
concentrations. | en_US |
