    A Study on Passenger Satisfaction Between DinajpurNekmarad and Dinajpur-Rangpur Route

    Abstract
    Dinajpur district is just like a living organism and the transportation system is just like the blood circulation system of that living organism. Different motorized and nonmotorized vehicles are seen running in streets of Dinajpur district to meet the transportation demand of the inhabitants of the district. Buses play an important role in Dinajpur district for movement. Measuring passenger satisfaction is very important in attracting and retaining passenger. The author considered different performance indicators between Dinajpur-Nekmarad and Dinajpur-Rangpur road to judge passengers satisfaction like fare collection, contractors with the use of passengers, bus schedule, carrying extra passengers, internal conditions of bus, driver experience, bus stoppage, goods transport by bus, cordiality to women and children, condition of bus (fitness), passenger service during festival and problems of passengers during transport strick. According to the passenger quitionaire 28% and 48% passengers was moderately satisfied with fare collection in Dinajpur-Nekmarad and Dinajpur-Rangpur road respectively. In case of cotractors with the use of passengers 54% and 52% passengers were moderately satisfied in the both roads respectively. It was seen that for other idicators near about 45% passengers were moderately satisfied with bus stoppage, bus schedule, carrying extra passengers, internal conditions of bus, driver experience, bus stoppage, goods transport by bus, cordiality to women and children, condition of bus (fitness), passenger service during festival and problems of passengers during transport strick. The prevailing of these factors enables customers to be charged reasonable prices and being satisfied. Those factors identified stabilized public transport and being vital to their daily usage as a public transport in Dinajpur district and other rest of cities/towns within the country. Therefore, it is recommended that management required to make sure that number of public vehicle required are available, number of routes are properly scheduled, number of passengers for each route is known, and maintenance expenses of vehicles are minimized as well as running costs in terms of fuel and labour, handling of pregnancy women, disables and sick people are carefully handled and avoid bad languages to customers.
