    Abstract
Two pot experiments were undertaken to find out the effectiveness of pre-plant treatment of soil inoculated with Meloidogyne sp. with four different oil-cakes namely mustard oil-cake, neem oil-cake, black seed oil-cake and sesame oil-cake and four granular insecticides namely carbotaf 5G (carbofuran + nematicide), rekafuran 5G (carbofuran), basudeb 10G (diazinon) and regent 3GR (fipronil) including a control on growth and yield of jute (Corchorus capsularis L. cv. CVL-1) and to manage root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne sp.). The experiments were conducted at Plant Pathology Department in Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during April, 2018 to October, 2018. All treatments in both of the experiments stimulated length of shoot and root, weight of shoot and root, weight of fiber and stick compared to control. Plants treated with neem oilcake were superior followed by black seed oil-cake, sesame oil-cake and mustard oil-cake among the organic soil amendments. Among the granular insecticides, rekafuran 5G showed best performance followed by regent 3GR, carbotaf 5G and basudeb 10G. Soil amendments also suppressed nemic population resulted in significant reduction in gall index of Meloidogyne sp. The highest reduction in number of galls per g of fresh root, number of L2, L3 and L4 stage and adult female in plants treated with different oil-cakes was noted with neem oil-cake, whereas the lowest reduction was observed with mustard oil-cake. Among the granular insecticides rekafuran 5G was noted with the highest reduction in number of galls per g of fresh root, number of L2, L3 and L4 stage and adult female. The lowest reduction in number of galls per g of fresh root, number of L2, L3 and L4 stage and adult female was observed with basudeb 10g treated plants.
