dc.description.abstract | The research work with five set of experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy
of T. harzianumin controlling S. rolfsii and F. oxysporum causing Damping off and Foot
rot of tomato at Plant Pathology Laboratory of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and
Technology (HSTU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh during the period of October, 2015 to
December, 2016. The first experiment was isolating pathogens (Sclerotium rolfsii and
Fusarium oxysporum). Isolated pathogens were identified as S. rolfsii and F. oxysporum
based on morphological characters. The second experiment was evaluation of T.
harzianum as biological control agent against S. rolfsii and F. oxysporum. Using the
Stock culture of Trichoderma showed more than 60% inhibition of the radial growth of
the test pathogen S. rolfsii over control. Trichoderma harzianum inhibited 80% radial
mycial growth of Fusarium oxysporum after five days of inoculation. F. oxysporum. The
rest of the experiments revealed that T4 which contains the first experiment (S. rolfsii
formulation @20g/kg of soil + T. harzianum formulation @20g/kg of soil + T.
harzianum suspension 2.45×107 CFU/ml), the second experiment (F. oxysporum
formulation @20g/kg of soil + T. harzianum formulation @20g/kg of soil + T.
harzianum suspension 2.45×107 CFU/ml) and the third experiment (S. rolfsii formulation
@20g/kg of soil + F. oxysporum formulation @20g/kg of soil + T. harzianum
formulation @20g/kg of soil + T. harzianum suspension 2.45×107 CFU/ml), showed
minimum foot rot and damping off among all the treatments. | en_US |
