PREVALENCE AND MANAGEMENT OF SOME MAJOR DISEASES OF MANGO IN DINAJPUR DISTRICT OF BANGLADESH

Abstract
The experiments were conducted in different mango orchards of Dinajpur district
in Bangladesh under the Department of Plant Pathology, Hajee Mohammad
Danesh Science and Technology University during April, 2016 to March 2017 on
the severity and management of prevalent mango diseases. Altogether, seven
different diseases viz. anthracnose, die-back, powdery mildew, sooty mold, red
rust, bacterial leaf blight and bacterial leaf spot were recorded. All the diseases
were common in the region but these varied from orchard to orchard. Among the
diseases, severity of anthracnose, die back, powdery mildew, red rust and
bacterial leaf spot were found major problem in both locations. The highest
severity of anthracnose, sooty mold, bacterial leaf blight and bacterial leaf spot
was found in both locations. Tilt 250EC resulted the highest performance
followed by Dithane M-45, Bavistin and Kumulus DF. Similarly, Neem leaf
extract + Bashak leaf extract exerted superior performance followed by Bashak
leaf extract, Neem leaf extract, Mustard oil-cake extract, Bashak leaf extract +
Mustard oil-cake extract and Neem leaf extract + Mustard oil-cake extract in
controlling anthracnose, sooty mold, red rust and bacterial leaf spot, die-back,
powdery mildew, red rust and leaf spot of mango.
