An experiment was laid out in the field laboratory of the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the period from February 2015 to May 2015 to study the effect of phosphatic fertilizer and spacing on growth and yield of mungbean. The experimental site belongs to the Old Himalayan Piedmont Plain Agro-Ecological Zone (AEZ-1). The experiment comprised of two factors with 4 levels of phosphorus and 3 spacing and was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). There were 12 treatments (4-P2O5 levels x 3-spacing) and each treatment was replicated 3 times. Three spacing was S1: 20x10 cm2, S2: 20x20 cm2 and S3: 30x20 cm2. Four phosphatic fertilizer levels were Po: 0 kg P2O5 ha-l (control), P1: 25 kg P2O5 ha-l, P2: 35 kg P2O5 ha-l and P3: 45 kg P205 ha-l . Phenological attributes of mungbean like days to flowering and days to maturity had no significant effect of spacing. But in case of number of pods plant-1 S3 showed highest result (20.38) which was followed by S1 (19.70) and S2 (16.63). Panicle length was highest in S2. Number of seeds per plant was highest in S3 (9.22) which were followed by S1 and S2. 1000 seed weight (33.08) and grain yield (1209.73) was highest in S1. In case of days of flowering and days of maturity there were no significant effect of phosphate level. In case of number of pods plant-1, P2 showed the highest result (19.62). Pod length was also highest in P2. Number of seed per plant was highest in P1 (9.49). 1000 seed weight (31.21) and grain yield (1247.89) was highest in P2. It was found that S1 × P0 combination showed highest result (39.00 days) for flowering where lowest result found in S2 × P3 and S3 × P2 combination. There were no significant differences among the different treatment combinations for maturity. Number of pods plant-1 (21.60), pod length (8.99), number of seed plant-1 (9.93), 1000 seed weight. (34.54) and grain yield (1483.59) was highest in combination of S1 × P2 where lowest result for above parameters were found in S3 × P0 combination. In case of phosphatic fertilizer application, P3 (45 Kg P2O5 per ha) gave higher result. For seed yield, S1 (20x10 cm2) and P2 (35 Kg P2O5) gave higher result singly but in combined effect the S1 × P2 showed better resultsen_US
