An experiment was conducted at the char land of the Tista river basin, during November 2019 to March 2020, to observe the effect of different garlic variety influenced by different fertilizer application packages under mango based agroforestry system. The experiment was laid out with a two factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) following three replications. The treatments for garlic varieties (i.e. factor A) were: V1 (BARI rashun -1), V2 (BARI rashun -2), V3 (BARI rashun-3 and V4 (BARI rashun-4). And the treatments for four fertilizer application packages (i.e. factor B) were: T1 (Fully chemical fertilizers as per FRG, 2014), T2 (Cow dung @ 10 ton/ha), T3 (Poultry manure @ 5 ton/ha) and T4 (No fertilizer). All the garlic varieties were sown using spacing of 10×15 cm2 . The total number of experimental plots of garlic was 48 and the size of each garlic plot was (3m×2m) 6 m2 . All the plots were made at the floor of a newly established mango (var. BARI mango -4) garden in a char land of Tista river basin. The result of the experiment revealed that different varieties had significant effect on the growth of garlic under mango based agroforestry systems. All growth parameters like plant height, number of leaves, size of garlic, weight of garlic, number of cloves were varied significantly. Yield of garlic also varied significantly and the highest yield (6.95 ton/ha) was recorded from variety V3 (BARI rashun -3) whereas, the lowest yield (3.01 ton/ha) was observed from variety V1 (BARI rashun -1). In case of fertilizer applications, yield of garlic also varied due to the response of different types of fertilizers. However, chemical fertilization provided the highest yield (5.22 ton/ha) whereas no fertilizer provided the lowest yield (4.61 t/ha). Among 16 treatment combinations, yield of garlic also varied significantly and the maximum yield of garlic (8.02 ton/ha) was measured from treatment V3T1 (BARI rashun-3 + chemical fertilizer) treatment, and the minimum yield of garlic (2.62 ton/ha) was found from V1T4 (BARI rashun-1 + No fertilizer) treatment. From economic analysis, it was observed that highest BCR (3.62) was recorded from garlic variety of V3 (BARI rashun -3) and lowest BCR (2.09) was recorded from the garlic variety of V1 (BARI rashun -1). Finally, it may be concluded that garlic especially BARI rashun-3 variety can be cultivated successfully under newly established mango based agroforestry systems at the char land considering additional returns as per investment in terms of money and time.en_US
