    Abstract
An experiment was conducted to find out the effect of different doses of lime on growth and yield of mungbean genotypes at the research field and laboratory of Crop Physiology and Ecology department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the period of March 2013 to June 2013. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Three mungbean varieties (viz. BARImung-5, BARImung-6 and BINAmoog-6) and four levels of doses of lime (0.0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 t ha-1 ) were included as experimental treatments. From the study it was observed that mungbean varieties showed higher plant height, number of leaves plant-1 , leaf area plant-1 , dry weight plant1 and number of nodule plant-1 with addition of lime. Chlorophyll content of fully expanded mature leaf at antheis was the higher value in variety BARImung-6 with liming treatment compared to no lime treatment. All the growth parameters were performed better for the variety BARImung-6 with 2.0 t/ha-1 of lime. Variety and doses of lime significantly influenced the number pod plant-1 , pod length, number of seeds Pod-1 , 1000-seed weight, seed yield and straw yield of mungbean. In general, liming treatment provided greater grain yield and yield component compared to no liming treatment in all the varieties. BARImung-6 with the application of 2.0 t ha-1 of lime produced the highest seed yield (1.64 t ha-1 ) and the variety BARImung-5 with no lime produced the lowest seed yield. Finally, it might be concluded that, BARImung-6 with the application of 2.0 t ha-1 of dolomite were better for growth, development, yield contributing characters, seed yield and straw yield of mungbean.
