dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to investigate the status of diseases in goat with relation to
age, sex and seasonal variation. A total of 579 clinical cases were registered for the
clinical diagnosis and therapeutic purposes at Veterinary Teaching hospital in Dinajpur
district of Bangladesh during the period of 1 year from September, 2016 to August 2017.
Disease diagnosis was made on owner’s statement, general examination and clinical
signs. Diagnosed diseases were categorized as infectious diseases, parasitic diseases and
other disorders. According to the study the highest (41.62%) prevalence were recorded
by infectious diseases followed by other disorder (36.11%) and lowest (22.26%) by
parasitic disease. The prevalence of infectious (44.86%), parasitic (21.07%) and other
disorders (39.26%) were found higher in winter, summer and rainy season respectively.
On the basis of age infectious diseases were highest (49.86%) in 1 year to 2 year age
group but parasitic diseases in above 2 years age (25.06%) and other disorders (39.34%)
in 1 month to 1 year age group respectively. Female goats showed highest prevalence in
infectious (50.18%), parasitic (22.10%) and other disorders (39.58%) than male goats.
On statistical analysis, it reveals that the variation in disease occurrence in respect of
season, age and sex are not statistically significant (P> 0.05). | en_US |
