Abstract
The experiment was conducted at the research field of the
Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh
Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur during the period
from August 2018 to November 2018 to evaluate the effects of cow
dung and urea fertilization on growth, yield contributing characteristics
and yield of mungbean varieties. The experiment comprised of two
factors such as A:Four fertilization levels like, T1= no fertilizer, T2= 3kg
cow dung plot-1 or 10 ton cow dung ha-1, T3= 16.2 g urea plot-1 or
54kg urea ha-1 T4= 1.5 kg cow dung plot-1 + 8.1g urea plot-1 or 5 ton
cow dung ha-1 + 27kg urea ha-1 and factor B: two varieties such as, V1
= BARI mung-6 and V2 = BARI mung-8. All the seeds were sown in the
experimental plots on 10 September 2018 following line-sowing
methods. The unit plot size was 3 m2 (2m ×1.5m). The experiment was
arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three
replicates. The tallest plant, the highest number of leaves plant-1, the
highest number of branches plant-1 , the highest number of pods plant1, the highest number of seeds pod-1, the longest pod, the maximum
weight of 1000-seeds, and the highest seed yield, were recorded from
T4 (5 ton cow dung ha-1 + 27 kg urea ha-1), while the application of T3
(54kg urea ha-1) ranked second for the avobe character in the present
study.
