dc.description.abstract | Mastitis is a zoonotic important disease of the mammary gland mainly caused by bacterial
infection and most common and costly health disorder of dairy cows. The study was
conducted over a period of one year from October 2016 to October 2017 in different milk
chilling centres of Aarong Dairy at Gurudaspur upazila in Natore District. A total of 245
milk samples were randomly collected and tested by somatic cells count test. The overall
prevalence of clinical mastitis in cows was 11.02%, of which 6.53% showed significantly
(P<0.05) higher severe clinical form of mastitis, moderately 3.67% showed moderate
clinical form and 0.82% showed by mild clinical form of mastitis. Mastitis was significantly
higher (15.2 %) in cross breed cows than the local breed (6.67%). On the age basis Mastitis
was higher (16.92%) in above 7 years cows, moderate (9.47%) in 5-7 years cows and
lowest (8.23%) in below 4 years cows. Mastitis was highest (17.89%) in early lactation
stage, moderate (7.5%) in mid lactation stage and lowest (5.71%) in late lactation stage
.Quarter infection in dairy cows about highest (55.56%) affected in single quarter
followed by (25.95%) in two quarters, (11.11%) in three quarters and (7.40%) was in
four quarter respectively. There was significant relationship between prevalence of clinical
mastitis with general physical condition and periparturient diseases of mastitis. Mastitis
treatment focused on different antibiotic treatment through different route. All the
treatments used in this study had positive effect on cureness and duration of recovery. It is
concluded that mastitis may found in dairy cows in different forms in respect of their breed,
age, lactation stage, and quarter variation etc. The risk factors may also plays important role
in the occurrence of mastitis. | en_US |
