    Abstract
The study was carried out to investigate the overall prevalence of bovine ephemeral fever in cattle in relation with age, sex, breed, seasonal variation and therapeutic effects of commercial drugs against bovine ephemeral fever. A total of 1050 clinical cases were registered for the clinical diagnosis and therapeutic purposes at sadar upazila livestock hospital in Gaibandha district of Bangladesh for a period of one year from April, 2017 to March, 2018. Diagnosis was made on owner’s statements, general examination, clinical signs and response to treatment. The overall prevalence of bovine ephemeral fever was 5.2%. Highest prevalence (6.8%) was found in 6 months to 2 years aged cattle. Female animals (5.3%) were more affected than male cattle. Cross breed animals (5.7%) were more susceptible than the native cattle. According to season, the highest prevalence was found in summer season (12.2%) than winter season and rainy season. Animals treated with different drugs showed significant effects on their date of recovery. Combined treatment with intramuscular injection of Ciprofloxacin, Phenyl butazone and Bolus paracetamol showed quick result of recovery than combined injection of Streptomicin+Penicillin and Ketoprofen HCL. On statistical analysis the parameters age, sex and breed variation was not statistically significant (P>0.05) but seasonal variation was statistically significant (P<0.01).
