    EFFICACY OF COCCIDIOSTATES AGAINST CAECAL COCCIDIOSIS ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKENS

    Abstract
    Coccidiosis in chickens is a parasitic disease and also called litter borne disease of poultry. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of different anticoccidiostates against caecal coccidiosis and the growth performance of the broiler birds. A total number of 320 Day Old Chicks (DOC) of cobb 500 were selected and categorized into four equal groups. Each groups were consist of 80 birds. The vaccinations against different diseases were given as per vaccination schedule in each group of birds. Among the 4 group, Group A were treated as control without any medication. The chicks of Group B were treated with combination of Nicarbazin & Maduramycin @ 0.6 gm/100 kg feed, Group C were treated with Deqoquinate 6 % @ 0.6 gm/100kg Feed, and Group D were treated with Monensin Sodium @ 0.6 gm/100 kg feed respectively from day old. The efficacies of different coccidiostates were evaluated based on Oocysts Counts Per Gram (OPG) of faeces, weight gain, and morbidity, mortality with necropsy findings. The maximum reductions of OPG counts on day 30 were detected in Group C (0.09 thousand) and Group B (1.11 thousand). Concerning the mean body weight recorded as compared to healthy control on day 30, Group C (1677.11g) chickens showed highest performance, followed by Group D (1811.5 g). Results showed Monensin Sodium as an effective coccidiostates against coccidiosis of chicken by supplementation into feed to reduced morbidity and mortality.
