KNOWLEDGE OF SAAOs ON ICTs FOR EXTENSION SERVICES IN NILPHAMARI DISTRICT

Abstract
The purposes of the study were to determine and describe some selected
characteristics of SAAOs, to determine the extent of knowledge on
SAAOs on ICTs, and to explore the relationship between the selected
characteristics of SAAOs with their knowledge on SAAOs on ICTs. Data
were collected from the SAAOs of four upazilas of Nilphamari district
during 10 September 2018 to 8 October 2018. The sample size of the
study was 70 and which was drawn from a population of 123 using
multistage random sampling technique. A total 16 questions covering
knowledge of SAAOs on ICTs. About three-fifths (57.14 percent) of the
SAAOs had good knowledge compared to 22.86 percent poor and only
20.00 percent was good knowledge on ICTs. Among the nine selected
characteristics of the SAAOs four characteristics namely; perception
towards ICTs, effectiveness in using ICTs, scientific orientation and
innovativeness showed significant and positive relationship but age and
service experience showed significant and negative relationship with SAAOs knowledge on ICTs. On other hand the rest of the characteristics
were failed to show any relationship with knowledge of the SAAOs.
