    FARMERS’ ATTITUDE TOWARDS FOUR CROPS CROPPING PATTERN

    Abstract
    The main purpose of the study was to determine some selected characteristics of the farmers practicing four cropping pattern, to determine the extent of attitude of the farmers’ towards four crops cropping pattern and to explore the relationships between nine selected characteristics of the farmers’ with their attitude towards four crops cropping pattern. Data were collected from 80 randomly selected farmers out of 400 farmers of Mohanpur union of Birganj upazila under Dinajpur district during 15th April to 15th May, 2015 through personal interview. Simple and direct questions with different scales were used to obtain data. Co-efficient of correlation (r) was computed in order to explore the relationships between the attitude towards four crops cropping pattern of farmers and their nine selected characteristics. More than half (58.8 percent) of the farmers’ had moderately favorable attitude towards four crops cropping pattern while 27.5 percent having slightly favorable attitude and only 13.7 percent belongs to highly favorable attitude category. The correlation test showed that training received, knowledge on four crops cropping pattern and extension media contact had positive significant relationships; while age and family size had negative significant relationship. Education, farm size, area under four crops cultivation and family income had no significant relationship with the farmers’ attitude towards four crops cropping pattern
