The gross and microscopic anatomy of the testis of buck has not been elucidated fully in Bangladesh. The objectives of this research were to study the gross anatomy including length, width, weight, size, shape, and circumference; and the microscopic structures of the testes of buck with special emphasis on the seminiferous tubules. The present study was designed to make a quantitative comparison of the various cellular types in the seminiferous tubules of the testes. For the purpose testes of four adult bucks were used and biometrical values were recorded. The mean values of length, width, weight and circumference of the left testes in bucks were 6.71  0.11cm, 3.90  0.01cm, 66.85  0.78 gm and 13.41  0.17cm respectively. The mean values of length, width, weight and circumference of the right testes in bucks were 6.26  0.04cm, 3.80  0.02cm, 66.47  0.79gm and 13.12  0.06 cm gm respectively. For microscopic studies tissue samples were excised from the testes, fixed in Bouins solution and embedded in paraffin .Cross sections 6 um thickness was stained with haematoxylin and eosin and evaluated with quantitative techniques. The testis was encapsulated by tunica albuginea which was a layer of interweaving, coarse collagenous fibers, a few elastic fibers and myofibroblast. Beneath the tunica vasculosa delicate connective tissue was inconspicuous strands continued from the tunica albuginea toward the mediastinum testis. The testicular parenchyma was divided into testicular lobules by the septula testis containing convoluted seminiferous tubules. Leydig cells or interstitial cells were located in the intertubular spaces. The findings in this thesis suggest that there were variations between the left and right testis of buck and left testis was slightly larger than right testis.en_US
