| dc.description.abstract | Artificial insemination (AI) is an important reproduction and production performance
of cow. The study was conducted in Biral upazila of Dinajpur district during January
to June, 2019 employing questionnaire survey to evaluate the status and major
constraints of AI service in cow. Data were collected either from directly the owners
of cow from Upazila Livestock Office, a total numbers of 976 cows were artificially
inseminated during study period and among them 580 cows were found to be
conceived. The present study revealed that the overall conception rate in cow was
59.43%. It was found that breed, parity, insemination time, semen placement site and
body conditional score (BCS) had significant (P<0.01) effect on conception rate in
cow. The conception rate was higher in cross breed (62.40%) cow with good body
condition score (69.35%), cow having parity number 3 (67.99%), inseminated
between 11 to 16 hours (73.78%) after onset of estrous and cow where semen
deposited in the body of uterus (63.44%). The present study also revealed that the
major constraints of AI service in the study area were conception failure (27.02%),
heat detection problem (22.98%), semen problem (19.19%), insufficiency support of
concerned body (15.91%) and artificial insemination technical (AIT) problem
