A pot experiment was carried out at the research field of Crop Physiology and Ecology Department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during March to June, 2018 to evaluate the effects of poultry litter based composts on morpho-physiological, yield and yield contributing characters of rice (BRRI dhan 28, BRRI dhan 47 and BINA dhan 10) and on soil fertility. The experiment was laid out in two factorial complete randomized design (CRD) with three replications. Factor A included three (3) varieties (BRRI dhan 28, BRRI dhan 47 , BINA dhan 10) and factor B comprised of three fertilization levels i.e. control (inorganic), poultry litter based compost (15 t ha-1) and similar compost (25 t ha-1) . Different parameters were measured such as plant height, tiller number, leaf number, leaf area, chlorophyll content, and yield contributing characters during the experiment. Most of the morpho-physiological traits, yield and yield contributing characters were significantly influenced by different fertilization and different varieties. Especially the highest plants height (110.7 cm) was recorded in compost (25 t ha-1) with variety BRRI dhan 28 at anthesis period. The highest leaf number (76.33) was recorded in compost (25 t ha-1) with variety BRRI dhan 28 at anthesis period. The highest effective tiller number hill-1 (18.33) were recorded from control (inorganic) with BRRI dhan 28 at maturity. The longest panicle length (25.45 cm) was recorded in the combined effect of compost (25 t ha-1) with BRRI dhan 28. The interaction between compost (25 t ha-1) with BRRI dhan 28 gave the highest grain yield (3.49 t ha-1). In case of 1000-grain weight the combined effect of compost (25 t ha-1) with BINA 10 produced the highest result (19.60 g). The maximum harvest index (60.68 %) was recorded from compost (25 t ha-1) with BRRI dhan 28. Soil fertility status increased with higher dose poultry litter based compost (25 t ha-1).en_US
