A Thesis By SUCHITRA RANI SARKER Student No. 1605415 Submitted to the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CROP PHYSIOLOGY AND ECOLOGYen_US
An experiment was conducted at research field and laboratory in the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during the period of 20th November 2016 to 16th March 2017 to study the effect of varieties and different levels of irrigation on the growth and yield of wheat. Three variety viz. V1=BARI Gom-24 (Prodip), V2= BARI Gom-25, V3= BARI Gom-26 and four different irrigation levels viz. I0= (Control) irrigation, I1= 40mm irrigation, I2= 70mm irrigation and I3=100mm irrigation in total life span were included in the study. The result showed that the effect of variety had significant variation in respect of plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, relative leaf water content, moisture retention capacity, chlorophyll content, total tillers/plant, number of effective tillers/plant, spike length, number of grain/spike, TDM, LAI, CGR, RGR, NAR, 1000 grain weight, grain yield, biological yield and harvest index. Highest number of leaves, leaf area, RLWC, MRC (%), total tillers /plant, number of effective tillers/plant, spike length, number of grain spike-1,, TDM, LAI, CGR, RGR, NAR, 1000 grain weight, grain yield and biological yield were observed in BARI Gom-25 (V2) and lowest in BARI Gom-24 (V1). Highest number of leaves, leaf area, RLWC, MRC (%), total tillers/plant, number of effective tillers/plant, spike length, number of grain spike-1, TDM, LAI, CGR, RGR, NAR, 1000 grain weight, grain yield and biological yield were observed in I2 (70 mm) and lowest in I0 (Control) irrigation. Most of the parameters significantly were influenced by the interaction effect of varieties and irrigation levels. Highest grain yield was found from V2×I2 and the lowest grain yield obtained in V1×I0 in the present study.en_US
