The experiment was conducted at research field and laboratory in the Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, during the period of December 2016 to May 2017 to study the effects of nitrogen and phosphorus on the growth and yield of groundnut. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiment comprised of two sets of factors such as A: Four doses of nitrogen (N) such as, N0= 0 kg nitrogen per hectare, N1=10 kg nitrogen per hectare, N2 = 15 kg per nitrogen per hectare and N3=20 kg nitrogen per hectare; B: three doses of phosphorus (P) like, P1=25 kg phosphorus per hectare, P2=35 kg phosphorus per hectare and P3=45 kg phosphorus per hectare. Result revealed that N2 (15 kg/ha N) took the highest days to attain germination, flowering, anthesis and pegging while the N0 (0 kg/ha N) took the lowest days for the above characters. Plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of branch per plant, plant height at harvest, root length at harvest, branch number at harvest, number of nodules at harvest, dry weight per plant at harvest, total chlorophyll content, number of mature pod per plant, number of immature pod per plant, total number of pod per plant, pod weight per plant, pod weight per plot and biological weight per plot were the highest in N2 (15 kg/ha N) while the above characters were lowest in N0 (0 kg/ha N). Crop growing with P2 (35 kg/ha P) took highest days to attain germination, flowering, anthesis and pegging while P1 (25 kg/ha P) took lowest days for the above characters. All morphological characters, total chlorophyll content, yield attributes and yield were highest in P2 while the above characters were lowest in P1. Most of the above parameters were significantly influenced by the interaction of nitrogen and phosphorus in the present study. Most of the characteristics showed their superiority in N2P2 while the most of the characteristics were lowest in N0P1. The highest pod yield was obtained from the interaction of N2P2. Finally, it can be concluded that combination of N2 (15 kg/ha N) with P2 (35 kg/ha P) was the best treatment for groundnut production.en_US
