RESPONSE OF YIELD OF DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF MUNGBEAN TO GIBBERELLIC ACID

Abstract
This experiment was carried out in the Laboratory of Department of Agronomy, Hajee
Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), during the period from
May to July 2017 to investigate the effect of GA3 on the yield and yield contributing
characters of mungbean. GA3 was three levels such as 0, 50, and 100 ppm and four
mungbean varieties were used such as BARI Mung 3, BARI Mung 4, BARI Mung 5 and
BARI Mung 6. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with
three replications. The collected data were analyzed statistically and means were
adjudged by DMRT at 5% level of probability. The results of the experiment revealed
that significant variations existed among the varieties in respect of morphological
characteristics and yield contributing characters like plant height, leaf area, plant water
relations, number of pods plant-1, pod length, number of seeds pod-1, 1000-grain weight,
total grain yield, biological yield and harvest index. BARI-Mung3 produced the leaf
area, plant water relations, number of pods plant-1, pod length, number of seeds pod-1
,
1000-grain weight, grain yield, biological yield, harvest index and highest plant height.
The Highest plant height, maximum straw yield, biggest leaf area, best of plant water
relation were recorded at 100ppm of GA3 concentration. Whereas pod length, number of
seeds pod-1, number of pods plant-1, 1000-grain weight, grain yield and biological yield
highest at 50ppm.
