A THESIS BY MD. GAUSUL AJAM Student no. 1605324 Session: 2016-2017 Semester: July-December, 2017 Submitted to the Department of Agronomy Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur In partial fulfillment of the requirements of degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE IN AGRONOMYen_US
A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Field of the department of Agronomy, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during rabi season (Nov. to April) of 2016-2017 to investigate the effect of seed fertilization on germination, yield attributes and grain yield of BARI Gom 30, and to find out the suitable and economically viable seed fertilization technique. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design. There were 10 treatment combinations, each treatment replicated three times. The treatments were randomly distributed to the plots within a block. The treatment were T1= Control, T2= NS (5ml kg-1), T3= NS (5 ml kg-1), T4= NS (10 ml kg-1), T5= NS (10 ml kg-1), T6= NS (15 ml kg-1), T7= NS (15 ml kg-1), T8= NS (20 ml kg-1), T9= NS (20 ml kg-1), T10 = Urea (100 %). The most important data were made on wheat regarding as canopy temperature, chlorophyll content, seed emergence, plant height, crop growth rate, dry matter production, number of tillers, number of effective tillers, number of spikes, spike length, spikelet per spike, number of filled grains spike-1, weight of 1000 grains, grain yield, straw yield, harvest index. The effect of different seed priming treatments on emergence of wheat seeds was found significant. The highest emergence percentage (66.17) on the less water seed fertilization and similar result was found for plant height (94.70 cm), thousand grain weight (56.67 g) and harvest index (56.19 %). But in case of spike length (11.69 cm), spikelet spike-1 (17.57), effective tillers (6.733), number of grain spike-1 (54.13), grain yield (5.280 t ha-1), straw yield (4.780 t ha-1) and biological yield (10.06 t ha-1) was found highest at more water fertilization of wheat seed. In every case lowest values was recorded at control i.e. no seed fertilization. Among the seed fertilization treatments, maximum yield was when seed were fertilized with more water and minimum was at control in respect of almost all parameters. Considering the findings wheat seed should be fertilized with more water before sowing and it is advised to fertilized seed with more water for getting maximum yield of wheat.en_US
