    Abstract
Fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum) or its extracts have been traditionally used in eastern countries for their nutritive and therapeutic values. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of fenugreek seeds powder diet supplementation on blood glucose in type 2 diabetic patients. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has a taken a heavy toll on the global population affecting 451 million people. A quasi experimental study was conducted among 40 subjects with T2DM. Diabetic subjects were divided into 2 groups, twenty patients each. The control group was allowed on regular diabetic diet. The other groups followed the same diet in addition to fenugreek supplement that varied according to the group. selected purposively with the objectives (i) to assess and compare the fasting blood glucose levels and after breakfast 2hr blood glucose levels among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the treatment and control group before and after the administration of fenugreek seed powder and (ii) to find out the assessment of Day-to-Day level of blood glucose level fasting and after breakfast 2hr. The data on fasting and after breakfast 2hr blood sugar was collected using with glucometer. Reliability and validity of instruments were established prior to data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for analysis by SPSS version 25. Results: Among the treatment group, a highly significant (t=6.147) (p<0.05) reduction in the fasting blood sugar level was observed. Overall score of self-reported health problems did not differ between the treatment and control groups. Significant (t=8.179) (p<0.05) reduction in the after breakfast 2hr blood sugar level was observed from treatment group. The study results indicate that fenugreek seed powder was effective in controlling blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes patients.
