    Abstract
The research work was conducted at the Agronomy Department experimental field of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur-5200 during the period from December 2016 to June 2017 to evaluate growth and yield of BRRI dhan29 through weed control by herbicides and nitrogen application. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments of the experiment were weed control options and urea application; weed control at three levels: W1= Control, W2 = Pre-emergence herbicide (Prun 20WP) + one hand weeding at 35 DAT and W3 = Post-emergence (Granite 240 SC) + one hand weeding at 35 DAT and another factor is urea that is used three levels: N1 =200 kg Urea ha-1 , N2 =250 kg Urea ha1 and N3 =300 kg Urea ha-1 . Morpho-physiological characteristics, yield contributing characteristics and yield of transplant boro rice cv. BRRI dhan29 were significantly influenced by herbicides and urea. During growth stage plant height, number of tillers hill-1 gave their highest values at W2 while their corresponding lowest values were found at the treatments W1. In case of nitrogen management all the growth parameters gave their highest values at all sampling dates at N3 while their corresponding lowest values were found at N1. The results showed that urea management significantly influenced all the crop parameters. The highest grain yield (5.912 t ha-1 ) was recorded from N2 the lowest grain yield (4.758 t ha-1 ) was produced by N1. Herbicides exhibit significant influence on all the crop characteristics studied. The highest grain yield (6.318 t ha-1 ) was obtained from W2 and the lowest (3.990 t ha-1 ) value was recorded from W1. The interaction effect of herbicides and urea showed that W2N2 gave the highest grain yield (7.007 t ha-1 ). The result of the experiment suggests that BRRI dhan29 might be grown economically at the treatment combination W2N2.
