A pot experiment was conducted at the research field of Crop Physiology and Ecology Department, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur in boro Season December 2016 to June 2017, to find out the effect of salinity level on growth and yield attributes of rice varieties. The experiment was laid out in two factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications. Seven rice varieties (BRRI dhan28, BRRI dhan47, BRRI dhan61, BRRI dhan74, Pokhali, BINA dhan8 and BINA dhan10) were used for this study. The rice plants were grown in plastic pots with 10 kg soils under different soil salinity treatments such as control, 8 dSm-1 and 12 dSm-1 to assess their performance on morpho-physiological parameters, yield and yield contributing characters. Plant height, tiller number per hill, no. of panicle per hill, panicle length (cm), filled spikelet per panicle, spikelet per panicle, straw weight, and 1000 grain weight, total grain weight was decreased gradually with the increase of salinity levels. But the SPAD value at 70 DAT, flowering date, unfilled spikelet per panicle, harvesting time, and spikelet sterility increased gradually with the increase of salinity levels. The variety BINA dhan8 showed the highest performance followed in BINA dhan10 in every 3 salinity levels. On the other-hand BRRI dhan74, Pokhali, BRRI dhan47 showed moderate performance. BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan61 was found susceptible to elevated saline levels and showed the lowest value in all parameters.en_US
