    Abstract
The experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Field, HSTU, Dinajpur during November 2016 to April 2017 to assess the effect of Sulphur and Boron fertilization on growth and yield of wheat. The experiment consisted with two factors namely factor-A and factor-B. Factor-A consisted four doses such as S1 (control), S2 (90 kg ha-1), S3 (110 kg ha-1), and S4 (130 kg ha-1) and factor-B consisted three doses such as B1 (Control), B2 (4 kg ha-1), and B3 (8 kg ha-1). The planting material of the experiment was wheat (BARI gom29). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replication. The treatments were randomly distributed to the plots within a block. Each plot was fertilized with Urea, TSP, MoP which those doses were recommended by WRC, BARI. Sulphur doses were 0 kg ha-1 for 9 plots, 90 kg ha-1 for 9 plots, 110 kg ha-1 for 9 plots and 130 kg ha-1 for 9 plots. Boron doses were 0 kg ha-1 for 12 plots, 4 kg ha-1 for 12 plots and 8 kg ha-1 for 12 plots. At harvesting stage (120 DAS), the highest plant height was obtained at treatment S4 (92.93 cm), B3 (93.65 cm) and S4B3 (95.93 cm), highest number of effective tillers plant-1 at S3 (7.24), B2 (6.78) and S3B2 (8.00), highest spike length at S3 (14.41 cm), B2 (14.03 cm) and S3B2 (14.67 cm), highest number of grains spike-1 at S3 (47.30), B2 (44.98) and S3B2 (49.33), highest 1000-grain weight at S3 (46.57 g), B2 (46.42 g) and S3B2 (47.45 g). The highest grain yield was obtained at treatment S3 (4.77 t ha-1), B2 (4.81 t ha-1) and S3B2 (5.27 t ha-1), highest straw yield at S3 (4.64 t ha-1), B2 (4.55 t ha-1) and S3B3 (4.68 t ha-1), highest biological yield at S3 (9.40 t ha1 ), B2 (9.36 t ha-1) and S3B2 (9.89 t ha-1). The highest harvest index was obtained at treatments S3 (50.56 %), B2 (51.22 %) and S3B2 (53.12 %). In every parameter the lowest was found at controlled condition. From the experimental results, the highest grain yield was found from S3, B2 and S3B2 treatment combination. It may be concluded that Sulphur and Boron application at S3, B2 and S3B2 treatment combination exerted significant influence on the yield and yield components of wheat. BARI gom29 along with S and B application came out very important for obtaining higher yield of wheat in the Old Himalayan Piedmont Plain (AEZ 1) soil
