Impact of Human Resource Development on Supply Chain Management Systems in the RMG Industry of Bangladesh
Rani, Shimu
This research investigates the impact of Human Resource Development (HRD) practices on the
efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain management systems in Bangladesh's Ready-Made
Garment (RMG) industry. Using a secondary data, the study analyses data from the RMG
industry, exploring the effects of training programs, employee empowerment, performance
management systems, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational culture of continuous
improvement. The study found a strong correlation between strategic HRD initiatives and
enhanced supply chain performance. The findings reveal that investments in employee training,
skill development, and organizational learning directly contribute to faster lead times, higher
perfect order rates, reduced costs, and improved supplier relationships. The research highlights
the crucial role of HRD in creating a skilled and adaptable workforce capable of leveraging
technology and managing complex supply chains. Furthermore, the study underscores the need
for governmental support for HRD initiatives, public-private partnerships, the promotion of
digital literacy and technological integration, and the development of regulatory frameworks and
standards to ensure the effective implementation of HRD programs. Future research should
explore the long-term effects of HRD on supply chain performance, address the integration of
emerging technologies, and investigate the role of organizational culture in fostering successful
HRD initiatives. By prioritizing HRD, the Bangladeshi RMG industry can further strengthen its
position as a global leader in apparel manufacturing and drive sustainable economic growth.
